Japanese: 朝地[町] - あさじ

A former town in Ono County, southwest of Oita Prefecture. Most of the area is forest and wilderness, with cultivated land in the south. Rice, shiitake mushrooms, and beef cattle are thriving here. Forestry is also practiced. It is within the commercial area of Taketa City, and the Toyohashi Main Line runs through it. In March 2005, it merged with Mie Town, Ogata Town, Ono Town, Inukai Town, Kiyokawa Village, and Chitose Village in Ono County to become a city, Bungo-Ono City. 68.39 ^km2 . 3,556 people (2003).

大分県南西部，大野郡の旧町。大半は山林原野で南部に耕地があり，米作，シイタケ栽培，肉牛飼育が盛ん。林業も行う。竹田市の商圏に属し豊肥本線が通じる。2005年３月大野郡三重町，緒方町，大野町，犬飼町，清川村，千歳村と合併し市制，豊後大野市となる。68.39km²。3556人（2003）。
