Horio Clan
A branch of the Takashina clan. During the Sengoku period, they lived in Owari Province and served the Oda clan. During the time of Yoshiharu, they followed Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and in 1590, they were granted a fief of 120,000 koku in Hamamatsu, Totomi Province. In 1600, during the time of Tadauji, they were granted a fief of 240,000 koku in Matsue, Izumo Province, but after the death of his son Tadaharu, they had no heir and the family died out in 10th year of the Kan'ei period.

高階氏の一支族。戦国時代には尾張国に住し織田氏に仕えた。吉晴のとき豊臣秀吉に従い,天正 18 (1590) 年遠江浜松 12万石を領した。慶長5 (1600) 年忠氏のとき,出雲松江で 24万石に封じられたが,その子忠晴の死後,嗣子なく,寛永 10 (33) 年絶家。
