Ezhou - study

A prefecture-level city on the south bank of the Yangtze River (Changjiang) in southeastern Hubei Province, central China. It is located along the Wuchang Line (Wuchang-Jiujiang), the Wuchang High-Speed ​​Railway, and the Wushi Intercity Railway (Wuhan-Huangshi). It has jurisdiction over three city districts (as of 2016). Population 1.1 million (2014). E County was established during the Qin Dynasty, and was renamed Wuchang County during the Wu Dynasty of the Three Kingdoms Period. It became Shouchang County in 1913, Echeng County the following year, and a city in 1960, but was restored to county status in 1961, and city status was established in the central area of ​​the county in 1979. In 1983, Echeng City and Echeng County were combined to become Ezhou City.

The city is especially rich in underground resources, and is home to iron, which forms part of the Daye Iron Mine, and is home to industries such as steelmaking, cement, shipbuilding, and chemical fertilizer. The surrounding area is home to farming villages that produce rice, wheat, cotton, rapeseed, and sweet potatoes, and Liangzi Lake produces fish and lotus root. Wuchang fish, which is from Liangzi Lake, is particularly famous as a local specialty.

中国中部、湖北(こほく)省南東部の長江(ちょうこう)(揚子江(ようすこう))南岸にある地級市。武九線(武昌(ぶしょう)―九江(きゅうこう))および武九高速鉄道、武石城際鉄道(武漢(ぶかん)―黄石(こうせき))に沿う。3市轄区を管轄する(2016年時点)。人口110万2000(2014)。秦(しん)代に鄂県が置かれ、三国時代の呉のとき武昌県と改称。1913年寿昌(じゅしょう)県、翌1914年鄂城県、1960年市となったが、1961年県に復し、1979年県の中心地区に市制が敷かれた。1983年鄂城市と鄂城県をあわせて鄂州市となった。

 地下資源はとくに鉄が豊富で大冶(だいや)鉄山の一部をなし、製鉄、セメント、造船、化学肥料などの工業が立地する。周辺は米、小麦、ワタ、ナタネ(アブラナ)、サツマイモを産する農村で、梁子湖(りょうしこ)では魚類と蓮根(れんこん)を産する。とくに梁子湖産の武昌魚(ダントウボウ)は特産として有名。
