Chemistry dealing with fluorine and fluorine compounds. The existence of fluorine has been known since the 16th century, but because fluorine has the highest electronegativity of all elements and is highly reactive, it was difficult to extract it as a single element, and it was finally isolated in 1886 by FFH Moissan of France. Development in this field was particularly slow, as many of the compounds corrode glass, are highly toxic, and are difficult to handle. フッ素およびフッ素の化合物を取り扱う化学。フッ素の存在は16世紀ころから知られてはいたが,フッ素はあらゆる元素のなかで電気陰性度が最大で反応性が強いため単体として取り出すことがなかなかできなかったほどであり,1886年ようやくフランスのF.F.H.モアッサンによって取り出された。化合物の多くがガラス質を侵し,しかも毒性が強く,取扱いが難しかったため,この分野の発展はとくに遅れていた。しかし工業的には,蛍石をはじめとする無機化合物が,ケイ酸塩工業に盛んに用いられていた。
