Kakioka - Kakioka

This area is located in the center of Ishioka City, Ibaraki Prefecture. Formerly Kakioka Town. Located in the center of the Kakioka (Yamane) Basin, it was the domain of the Kakioka clan and then the Nagakura clan in the Middle Ages, and in the early modern period it was a hatamoto domain. The Karakuri dolls (called "Kurari Keiri") at Hachiman Shrine are a prefectural designated intangible folk cultural property. Maruyama Kofun is a prefectural historic site. The Kakioka Experimental Facility of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tokyo and the Geomagnetic Observatory of the Japan Meteorological Agency are located here.

茨城県石岡市(いしおかし)の中心部に位置する地区。旧柿岡町。柿岡（山根(やまね)）盆地の中心に位置し、中世は柿岡氏のち長倉氏、近世は旗本領。八幡神社のからくり人形（「くらりけいり」という）は県指定無形民俗文化財。丸山古墳は県史跡。東京大学工学部柿岡実験施設、気象庁地磁気観測所がある。
