Born January 5, 1630. The eldest son of Ikeda Mitsumasa. In 1669, he became the second lord of the Ikeda clan in the Bizen Okayama domain. He gave 40,000 koku of new land to his younger brothers Masakoto and Terutoshi, establishing two branch domains. He ordered Tsuda Nagatada to promote the development of new land and to build a vegetable garden (later known as Korakuen Garden). He was known as a literary feudal lord who enjoyed Noh theater, waka poetry, painting, and more. He died on October 29, 1612, at the age of 77.
