A manufacturer of automobile tires. Founded in 1944 with investment from Dai Nippon Boseki (now Unitika) and Naigai Rubber, the company initially produced aircraft tires. In 1962, the company changed its name from Otsu Rubber Industries to Otsu Tire. In 1981, the company entered into a full partnership with Sumitomo Rubber Industries, which has since taken over management. The company launched and developed the "Falken" brand. In 1988, the company established a business division specializing in the development of non-tire products, clarifying its intention to diversify. In November 2000, the company carried out a third-party allocation of new shares, which was fully subscribed by Sumitomo Rubber Industries, making it a subsidiary of Sumitomo Rubber Industries.
