Neogawa River

Japanese: 根尾川 - ねおがわ

A tributary of the Ibi River that flows through western Gifu Prefecture. It is about 57 km long. It originates at the foot of Mt. Nogo-Hakusan, flows through the Ryohaku Mountains along the Neodani Fault Line, and forms an alluvial fan on the Nobi Plain near Motosu. It once branched into the Yabu River and the Ito-nuki River at Yamaguchi, the outlet of the valley. The Ito-nuki River was later abandoned, but the waterway remained, and the riverbed is now used for housing and factories. The name of the Yabu River has been changed back to Neo River. It joins the Ibi River in Kobe Town. It is a source of irrigation water for the alluvial fan.

岐阜県西部を流れる揖斐川の支流。全長約 57km。能郷白山のふもとに源を発し，両白山地を根尾谷断層線に沿って流れ，本巣付近で濃尾平野に出て扇状地を形成する。かつては谷の出口の山口で藪川と糸貫川に分流していた。糸貫川はその後に廃川となったが，水路は残され，河川敷は住宅・工場用地に利用。藪川の名は根尾川に戻されている。神戸町で揖斐川に合流。扇状地上の灌漑用水源である。
