Siberian hydrangea - Siberian hydrangea

...The current multicolored cultivars were developed in Europe using species such as Hydrangea macrophylla, and were called Western Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla). They were reintroduced to Japan and are now widely sold in flower shops as potted plants. This species, H. macrophylla f. rosalba (Van Houtte) Ohwi, is considered to be a horticultural variety of the Lacquer Hydrangea or Siberian Hydrangea described below, and its calyx color changes from white at the beginning of flowering to pale pink, red, or purple-red. The flower shape is the same as that of Lacquer Hydrangea macrophylla.
