...The stories of Abe Bungo-no-kami's crossing of the Sumida River and the settlement of the Yashiro Incident are absurd as historical fact, but they have had a considerable influence on later storytelling and the Tachikawa Bunko collection, as they have attracted the sympathy of their readers for the refreshing old samurai who maintained his toughness in an era when the three Shoguns had lost their simplicity and strength. In Kabuki, many "Okubo seidanmono" (Ooka seidan stories) were created based on the actual books and lectures, and they appeared under pseudonyms such as Furugori Shinzaemon, Miwa Gorozaemon, and Touno Shirozaemon, and were linked to the Iga-goe Vengeance, the Kuroda Incident, and the Utsunomiya Incident. In January 1794 (Kansei 6), he played the role of Miwa Gorozaemon in the play "Haru no Tori" (written by Tatsuoka Mansaku) at the Osaka Kaku Theater, which dealt with the Utsunomiya Uprising, and in July 1855 (Ansei 2), he played the role of Omori Hikoshichizaemon together with Isshin Tasuke in the play "Nani Takashimari Utajitsuroku" (written by Sakurada Jisuke III) at the Edo Nakamura Theater, which mixed the Yashiro Uprising and the Kyotaiin Uprising.

…阿部豊後守の隅田川乗切りや，矢代騒動処理の逸話等々，史実としては荒唐無稽だが，質朴剛健さを失った3代将軍の世に硬骨ぶりをおし通した痛快な老武士への享受者の共感を核として，後世の講談や立川文庫に与えた影響は少なくない。歌舞伎でも，実録本･講釈をもとに，大岡政談と並称される数多くの〈大久保政談物〉が生まれ，古郡新左衛門，三輪五郎左衛門，遠雲四郎左衛門などの仮名で，伊賀越の仇討，黒田騒動，宇都宮騒動物などとも結びついて登場した。1794年(寛政6)1月大坂角の芝居《けいせい青陽（はるのとり）》(辰岡万作作)では宇都宮騒動を扱い，三輪五郎左衛門として，また1855年(安政2)7月江戸中村座《名高手毬諷実録（なにたかしまりうたじつろく）》(3世桜田治助作)では矢代騒動，鏡態院騒動などを混交させ，一心太助とともに大森彦七左衛門として活躍する。…
