But the Ishiyama Uprising was an inevitable confrontation between Nobunaga, the winner of the Sengoku war and seeking to establish a unified system of plundering surplus produce, and Hongan-ji, a religious lord who controlled the Hongan-ji territory and the network of temple towns in the Kinai region, which were controlled by an alliance of monks and local lords through a multi-layered system of jobs, and who had elevated Hongan-ji to the central position of the anti-Nobunaga front. The defeat of the latter determined the direction of the separation of soldiers and farmers. [Shinko Kiichi]
[Ishiyama Military Chronicles]
A type of Kabuki, Kyogen, Joruri, and storytelling based on the Ishiyama War. It deals with the final struggle of the Ikko Ikki uprising and the deeds of the monk Kennyo, and was often shown as a show, due to the performance policy of absorbing followers of the Jodo Shinshu sect as an audience, and was a success.
