Sarumeuji - Sarumeuji

Japanese:
Sarumeuji - Sarumeuji
An ancient clan that offered women called Saru-me to serve at the requiem ceremony. It is said that their ancestor was Ame-no-Uzume-no-Mikoto, who led the descent of the heavenly grandson to earth. The Kōnin Shiki Preface states that Hieda no Are was a descendant of Ame-no-Uzume, so it is possible that they were related to the Wani clan, as were the Hieda clan. This can also be inferred from the fact that a Dajōkan document dated October 28, 813, quoted in the Ruiju Sandai Kaku, shows that Saru-me was offered as a tribute to the Nuidono-ryo by Ono no Ason (the inscription on the back of the Nishinomiya-ki expresses this as a tribute from the Saru-me clan).
