Born on January 2, 1882. After working as a reporter for publications such as Jitsugyo no Sekai and Mainichi Shimbun, he founded Diamond Inc. in 1913 and launched the economic magazine Diamond. In 1947, he became a member of the House of Representatives (Japan Liberal Party), but was banned from public office. In 1955, he received the Kikuchi Kan Award. In 1956, he became the first president of the Japan Magazine Publishers Association. He passed away on July 23, 1964, at the age of 82. He was from Niigata Prefecture.
