...The island is washed by the warm Tsushima Current, and mandarin oranges are cultivated here. The fishing industry is dominated by fixed net fishing for horse mackerel and yellowtail, and line fishing for squid and mackerel. Female divers are also known to live here. The Ikadai-ishi ruins in the southeast of the island are the remains of a settlement dating from the late Kofun period to the Heian period, and whale bones have been excavated from the ruins.
