Turkish March - Türkischer Marsch

A common name for the third movement of Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 11 in A major (K331). Written in allegretto, A minor, and 2/4 time, this movement was titled "Turkish Rondo" (Rondo alla turca) in imitation of the exoticism that was popular at the time, and due to its unique melody and rhythm, it has become so popular that it is now performed alone. The theme of Beethoven's Six Variations for Piano in D major (Op. 76) was also sometimes called the "Turkish March" because it was later used as the "Turkish March" in the overture and eight-piece incidental music "The Ruins of Athens" (Op. 113).

モーツァルト作曲のピアノソナタ第11番イ長調（K331）の第三楽章の俗称。アレグレット、イ短調、4分の2拍子で書かれたこの楽章は、当時流行していた異国趣味に倣い「トルコ風のロンド」Rondo alla turcaという標題をもち、その独特な旋律やリズムゆえに、現在では単独で演奏されるほど広く親しまれるようになった。また、ベートーベンのピアノのための六つの変奏曲ニ長調（作品76）の主題も、のちに序曲と八曲からなる付随音楽『アテネの廃墟(はいきょ)』（作品113）に「トルコ行進曲」として転用されたため、この名称でよばれることがある。
