Okawado Mikuriya (Okawado Mikuriya)

Okawado Mikuriya (Okawado Mikuriya)
A mikuriya in the territory of Ise Jingu, whose relic location is now Okawado, Matsubushi-cho, Kitakatsushika-gun, Saitama Prefecture. It is believed to have been the area of the old Tone River basin from present-day Matsubushi-cho to Koshigaya-shi, Saitama Prefecture, and part of it extended into Adachi-gun, Musashi Province. In 1184, Minamoto no Yoritomo donated Okawado mikuriya to Ise Jingu in order to hold new Nagahi gohei and special annual festivals. At the time of the donation, it was the territory of the Outer Shrine, but it soon became the territory of both the Inner Shrine and the Outer Shrine. At the end of the 12th century, the area of Tashiro was said to be over 800 cho, but Honda is thought to have been about 40 cho. After that, there were quarrels with the priests of Ise Shrine and disputes over the position of the head priest, but it seems to have functioned as the territory of Ise Jingu until the mid-14th century.
