Okawachi [town] - Okawachi

Japanese: 大河内[町] - おおかわち

This former town in Kanzaki County occupies the upper reaches of the Ichikawa River in central Hyogo Prefecture. Its center is Teramae, where the Bantan Line runs. Most of the area is forested, producing cedar and cypress, and lumber is also produced. Trout farming and wasabi cultivation are carried out in the Omi River, a tributary of the Ichikawa River. A ski resort and campground are located on the Mineyama Plateau in the north. In November 2005, it merged with Kanzaki Town, Kanzaki County, to become a town, forming Kamikawa Town, Kanzaki County. Area: 97.17 ^km2 . Population: 5,351 (2003).

兵庫県中央部，市川上流域を占める神崎(かんざき)郡の旧町。中心は播但(ばんたん)線が通じる寺前。大部分が山林でスギ，ヒノキを産し，製材も行う。市川の支流大見川ではマス養殖，ワサビ栽培が行われる。北部の峰山高原にはスキー場やキャンプ場がある。2005年11月，神崎郡神崎町と合併し町制，神崎郡神河町となる。97.17km²。5351人（2003）。
