Enceladus - Enceladus (English spelling)

Enceladus - Enceladus (English spelling)
One of Saturn's moons. It has a diameter of about 500 km, and its surface is covered with a thick layer of ice. It was discovered in 1789 by astronomer William Herschel. Since 2005, observations by the Cassini space probe operated by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and others have revealed that there is a vast ocean beneath Enceladus, and that water vapor and ice containing organic matter are spewing out. In 2015, analysis and experiments conducted by an international research team including the University of Tokyo Graduate School and the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology revealed that there is a high possibility that hot water that nurtures primitive microorganisms is bubbling up from the ocean floor. This has raised the possibility that Enceladus has the three elements necessary for the birth of life - water, organic matter, and energy (heat) - and has attracted attention as a discovery that supports the existence of extraterrestrial life.

Enceladus

The name of the second largest moon in an orbit around Saturn (Saturn's second moon). It was identified in 1789 by astronomer William Herschel. Its diameter is about 500 km, about one-seventh that of the Moon. Its average distance from Saturn is 238,020 km. Its surface is covered with ice and is beautiful and white. In 2005, NASA/ESA's unmanned Saturn probe Cassini discovered that Enceladus has a small amount of atmosphere. Cracks found near the south pole of Enceladus were named "Tiger Stripes," and geysers of water vapor are erupting from them. There have been various theories about the cause, but an announcement in August 2013 suggested that tidal forces caused by Saturn's gravitational pull were the cause.
