Born in Tensho 15. The eldest son of Ikeda Nagayoshi. In 1614, he became the second head of the Ikeda family to rule Inaba Tottori Domain. He served in the army of his cousin Ikeda Toshitaka during the Summer Siege of Osaka and distinguished himself. In 1620, he became the first head of the Ikeda family to rule Matsuyama Domain in Bitchu (Okayama Prefecture). He was granted a stipend of 65,000 koku. He died on April 7, 1626, at the age of 46.
