This ancient city was located on the left bank of the Eika River (present Ishikawa) that flows through Kawachi. Its location is uncertain, but the prevailing theory is that it was the provincial capital of present-day Fujiidera City, Osaka Prefecture. The provincial capital was located at a key point where the Otsu Road (later Nagao Kaido) ran east-west and the East Koya Kaido ran north-south, in addition to the Ishikawa River's shipping routes, and the Kawachi provincial capital (kokuga) was located there. In the entry for March of the 13th year of Emperor Yuryaku's reign in the Nihon Shoki, it is written that "The Emperor had Hadane no Mikoto leave his assets in the open soil of the Tachibana trees near Eika City," and in the Chronicles before Emperor Kenso's accession to the throne, it is written that "He did not buy delicious sake directly from Eika City," and in 770, the "Eiga City Governor" was appointed in connection with the construction of the Yugi Palace. In addition to Kaiga, Ega, Ega, and Ega are also written as Ega, and it is assumed that Ega referred to the area from the eastern part of Matsubara City in Osaka Prefecture to the northern end of Habikino City, including Nagano Village, which was given to the Mononobe clan in the 13th year of Emperor Yūryaku. The area was a settlement of immigrants from ancient times, and contains the Misanzai Tomb (the tomb of Emperor Chuai), Ichinoyama Tomb (the tomb of Emperor Yūryaku), and Konda Gobyōyama Tomb (the tomb of Emperor Ojin). In the late Heian period, the Goin territories of Kaiga no Maki and Kaiga no Sho were established. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
