Macrocystis

...Although not found in Japan, seagrass-related Thalassia , Halodula , Halophila , Springodium , Enhalus , Cymodocea , and Phyllospadix form similar seagrass communities in various parts of the world. Rocky reef communities of Sargassum and underwater forests of large brown algae are also widely found around the world, but the giant kelp Macrocystis forests on the Pacific coast of North and South America are well known. Seagrass beds are highly productive and have a distinctive ecosystem with a rich variety of organisms living there.
