This waterfall is located in Hourai-cho, Shitaraga-gun, Aichi Prefecture, about 7km east of Mikawa-Ono Station on the JR Iida Line. It is on the eastern side of the Median Tectonic Line, where the Atera River creates a group of waterfalls on a fault cliff made of gravel. There are seven waterfalls over a drop of about 70m, hence the name Nanataki (Seven Waterfalls). It is part of the Tokai Nature Trail, and has been designated a Place of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument, attracting many tourists. The gravel near the waterfall is also known as "Kodaki-ishi" (Child-holding Stone), and it is believed that if you bring it home and worship it, you will be blessed with a child.
