A temple in Nanjing , Jiangsu Province, China. ◇Originally built by Emperor Wu of the Liang Dynasty and called Kaishan Temple, it was founded in 1381. The temple and tower were later moved to this site from the southern foot of Zhongshan Mountain and renamed Linggu Temple. It was built using a construction method in which bricks are stacked in an arch shape, without using a single beam, so it is also known as the "Beamless Hall." Within the grounds are the Pine Wind Pavilion and Linggu Pagoda, which is also the symbol of the temple. Source: Kodansha World Tourist Attractions Encyclopedia Information |
