Bradypus tridactylus

...General term for arboreal, herbivorous mammals belonging to the families Bradypodidae and Megalonychidae. Widely distributed in the forests of Central and South America, there are two genera and five species, including the two-toed sloth Choloepus didactylus , which has two toes (claws) on its front feet and three on its hind feet, and the white-toed sloth Bradypus tridactylus (illustration), which has three toes (claws) on each of its front and hind feet. At first glance, they resemble monkeys, but are easily distinguished from them by their distinctive hanging posture, round, flat, expressionless face and body, long limbs, and few toes on their front and hind feet.
