Gaydar (English spelling) Arkadiy Petrovich Gaydar

A Russian children's author. His real name was Gorkov. Born in Ligov, he joined the Red Army at the age of 14 and participated in the Russian Revolution. When World War II broke out, he joined the army as a journalist and was killed in action in Ukraine. His works are permeated with revolutionary and patriotic ideas, and include his autobiographical story "The School" (1930), "Distant Countries" (1932), "Chuks and Geks" (1939), and "Timur and His Regiments" (1940), which vividly depicts young boys helping the homes of soldiers who have gone to war and the families of those killed in battle. They are still widely read and loved today.

ロシアの児童文学作家。本名はゴーリコフГоликов。リゴフに生まれ、14歳で赤軍に入りロシア革命に参加。第二次世界大戦勃発(ぼっぱつ)と同時に記者として従軍し、ウクライナで戦死した。自伝的な物語『学校』（1930）をはじめ、『はるかな国々』（1932）、『チュークとゲーク』（1939）、出征兵士のいる家や戦死した人の家族を援助する少年たちの姿を生き生きと描いた『チムールとその部隊』（1940）など、作品は革命的、愛国的な思想で貫かれ、いまも広く愛読されている。
