Chabazite (English spelling)

Japanese: リョウ沸石(菱沸石) - りょうふっせき（英語表記）chabazite

A type of zeolite characterized by a rhombohedral shape close to a cube. Its chemical composition is (Ca,Na ₂ )(Al ₂ Si ₄ O ₁₂ )･6H ₂ O. It belongs to the trigonal crystal system and has a hexahedral shape, but can also be granular or lumpy. Its specific gravity is 2.05-2.10, and its Mohs hardness is 4.5. It can be colorless, white, light gray, yellowish, greenish, or reddish, and has a vitreous luster. It forms a solid solution of Ca and Na over the entire range. It is often found as well-formed crystals in the voids of decomposed andesite, basalt, etc., along with other zeolites and calcite.

沸石の一種で立方体に近い菱面体の外形に特徴がある。化学成分は(Ca,Na₂)(Al₂Si₄O₁₂)･6H₂O。三方晶系に属し，六面体の外形を示すが，粒状，塊状となる場合もある。比重2.05～2.10，モース硬度4.5。無色，白色，淡灰色，帯黄色，帯緑色，帯紅色を呈し，ガラス光沢がある。Ca,Naの全域にわたる固溶体を形成する。分解した安山岩，玄武岩などの空隙中に他の沸石や方解石などとともに良好な結晶として産出することが多い。
