Often occurs as leaf-shaped or columnar euhedral crystals. Perfect cleavage {010}. Found as sublimate or precipitate in low-temperature hydrothermal veins, volcanic fumaroles, sulfur vents, and hot springs, and also as an altered product of realgar.
