Mount Katsuudake

Japanese: 嘉津宇岳 - かつうだけ

A mountain on the border between Nago City, Okinawa Prefecture and Motobu Town, Kunigami County. It is 451m above sea level. It is one of the main peaks that make up the Motobu Mountains, located on the Motobu Peninsula of Okinawa Island (main island), and its geology is made up of Paleozoic limestone. It has been designated a natural conservation area as a habitat for rare plants such as the Indian laurel and the Calanthe katsuudakebine. A road runs up the middle of the mountain, and from the summit you can see the islands surrounding Okinawa Island, so it attracts many visitors. At the southern foot of the mountain is the village of Katsuyama, which was developed by samurai after the abolition of the feudal domains.

沖縄県名護市と国頭（くにがみ）郡本部（もとぶ）町の境にある山。標高451m。沖縄島(本島)本部半島にあり，本部山地を構成する主峰の一つで，地質は古生代の石灰岩からなる。ヒナカンアオイ，カツウダケエビネなど貴重な植物の自生地域として，天然保護区域に指定されている。中腹まで道路が整備されており，頂上からは沖縄島周辺の島々が眺望でき，訪れる人が多い。南麓には廃藩後に士族たちによって開拓された勝山の集落がある。
