Important ledgers held by nobles. The types of ledgers varied depending on the nature of the nobles. For example, in the Edo period, ledgers such as the duty registers related to the Shogunate's territories, village registers, and village registers related to the Shogunate's administration were all called Gozencho, in the sense that they were presented to the Shogun and kept at his disposal. In the case of the Sengoku daimyo Gohojo clan, it referred to the land and administrative registers approved by the head of the family, and examples of the use of Gozencho date back to medieval historical materials. Of these, the Gozencho is particularly noteworthy as a national land register that was held by the unified government in the early modern period, along with the Kuni-ezu (Kuni-ezu), and its collection by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1591 (Tensho 19) and Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1605 (Keicho 10) is well known.
