Choleretic agents are drugs that promote the secretion or excretion of bile when the excretion of bile is inhibited by biliary disease. Choleretic agents are classified into choleretic agents, which act directly on the liver cells that produce bile to promote bile secretion, and choleretic agents, which act on the gallbladder and the sphincter of Oddi at the opening of the duodenum to promote the excretion of bile.

Choleretic drugs

There are two types of choleretic agents: water choleretic agents (agents that increase bile volume) that secrete bile with a high water content and low viscosity, and concentrated choleretic agents (agents that promote the secretion of bile components). Water choleretic agents include dehydrocholic acid, osalmid, and floranthrone, while concentrated choleretic agents include ursodesoxycholic acid, tocamphyl, phenylpropanol, cyclobutyrol, anetholetrithione, and cynarin.

Choleretic agents

There are two types of gallbladder contraction drugs: those that promote gallbladder contraction and those that promote emptying by causing relaxation of the sphincter of Oddi. The former include egg yolk preparations, olive oil, theothrin, and cholecystokinin, while the latter include magnesium sulfate solution, flopropione, hymecromone, and trepibutone.

利胆剤。胆道疾患によって胆汁の排出が阻害された場合に胆汁の分泌または排出を促進する薬物をいう。利胆剤には、胆汁をつくる肝細胞に直接作用して胆汁分泌を亢進(こうしん)させる催胆剤と、胆嚢(たんのう)や十二指腸開口部のオッディOddi括約筋に作用して胆汁の排出を促進させる排胆剤とがある。

水分の多い粘稠(ねんちゅう)度の低い胆汁を分泌させる水催胆剤（胆汁量増加剤）と濃厚催胆剤（胆汁成分分泌促進剤）とがある。水催胆剤にはデヒドロコール酸、オサルミド、フロランチロン、濃厚催胆剤にはウルソデスオキシコール酸、トカンフィル、フェニルプロパノール、シクロブチロール、アネトールトリチオン、サイナリンがある。
