Rizq (English spelling)

Japanese: リズク（英語表記）rizq

An Arabic word meaning food (plural al-zaq). In the Quran, it means "nutrition that sustains life" or "food given by God." As a term in Islamic history, it meant the food items provided to Arab warriors (muqatira) along with atta from 640 until the time of the Abbasid Caliph Ma'mun, and later meant the salary paid to military personnel and government officials. In the case of Arab warriors, if atta was the warrior's own base salary, then rizq was an allowance for dependents. The names of the warrior and his family were registered in the diwan, and food items such as barley and wheat were provided in kind according to the number of family members.

糧食を意味するアラビア語(複数形はアルザーク)。コーランでは，〈生命を支える栄養物〉〈神から授けられた食糧〉の意味に用いられる。イスラム史の用語としては，640年からアッバース朝カリフ，マームーンの時代まで，アラブ戦士(ムカーティラ)にアターとともに支給された食糧品を意味し，その後は軍人･官吏に支給された俸給を意味した。アラブ戦士の場合，アターを戦士自身の本俸とすれば，リズクは扶養家族のための手当であり，戦士と家族の名がディーワーンに登録され，家族数に応じて大麦，小麦などの食糧品が現物で支給された。
