A village in Inba County in northern Chiba Prefecture. Population 4,433 (1995). Located on the north bank of Lake Inban, the eastern part of the village is an inverted delta created by the Tone River backing up during floods, while the western part is a plateau. When the New Tone River was excavated in 1670 (Kanbun 10), villages along the riverbed were relocated to this area, and the 14 villages of Nohara Shinden were born. With the construction of the Inba Lock Gate and pumping and drainage stations to prevent floodwaters from backing up the Tone River, the area has become a stable rice paddy region. Rice is the main crop, but vegetables are also grown. The western part of the plateau is the development area of Chiba New Town. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
