This is an industry in which businesses purchase various physical assets at the request of customers and then lease them to them for long periods of time, from three to five years. Leasing is widely used due to the reduced capital investment burden and tax benefits. The total leasing contract amount for fiscal 1998 was 7,144.5 billion yen.
