French painter. Born in Paris. His father, Etienne, was also a painter. He studied in the studio of Georges Lallemand (Lallemant) and participated in the decoration of the Château de Fontainebleau. His early works show Mannerist techniques, but he gradually began to show Baroque techniques such as those of S. Boué. In the 1640s, he worked on decorative paintings for Paris mansions (hotels), tapestry drawings, and religious paintings for newly built churches. In 1648, he became one of the 12 founders of the Academie d'Art.

フランスの画家。パリに生まれる。父エチエンヌも画家。ラルマンGeorges Lallemand(Lallemant)のアトリエで学び，フォンテンブロー城の装飾に加わる。初期作品にはマニエリスム風の手法がみられるが，しだいにS.ブーエなどのバロック的描法を見せる。1640年代になるとパリの邸宅(オテル)の装飾画やタピスリーのデッサン，あるいは新しく建築された教会のための宗教画を手がける。48年，〈絵画アカデミー〉の創設者12名の一人となる。
