Title of an agricultural book. Written before the Edo and Genroku periods (1688-1704), this is one of the finest local agricultural books, but the author and publication date are unknown. The author was from the area between present-day Shizuoka and Aichi prefectures, and was probably a samurai. It was written based on interviews with old farmers, but the author himself is thought to have been engaged in farming. It is thought to have been written between 1680 and 1682 (Enpo 8 - Tenwa 2). It consists of 15 volumes, and although the content is excellent, it was not widely circulated as it was only handed down as a copy. The 15 volumes are as follows: Volume 1 is a collection of seasonal items, Volume 2 is a volume on the five constants, Volume 3 is a treatise on the nature of rice fields and farmland, Volume 4 is a collection of the good and evil of house construction and a collection of trees, Volume 5 is a set of names of agricultural implements and small cargo items, Volume 6 is a collection of impurities, Volume 7 is a collection of water prevention and irrigation, Volume 8 is a collection of 100 poems on seedling preparation and a selection of the same, Volume 9 is a collection of rice field cultivation, Volume 10 is a collection of wheat cultivation, Volume 11 is a collection of cultivation of five grains and miscellaneous grains, Volume 12 is a collection of vegetable cultivation, Volume 13 is a collection of water plants, Volume 14 is a collection of food crops, and Volume 15 is a set of names of garden tools, household tools, and hemp machine tools. The collection of impurities describes fertilizer, and the collection of food crops describes famine relief crops.
