Japanese: 耀天記 - ようてんき

One of the Tendai Shinto scriptures from the Kamakura period. 1 volume. Written in 1223. A Sanno Shinto book centering on the history of Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine in Sakamoto, Shiga Prefecture. It posits that Shakyamuni appeared at Hiyoshi Sanno to save all living beings, and that Hiyoshi Shrine, the guardian deity of Enryaku-ji Temple, is the highest deity. The author is not specified, but it is said to have been written by a scholar of Enryaku-ji Temple. It describes the origins of the enshrinement of the Seven Sanno Shrines, their festivals, and Shinto theories on Sanno Shinto, and consists of 40 items and two appendices. The title of the book indicates the divine virtues of Sanno through the Jindai Engi of Yamato Miwa-yama, the main shrine of Omiya, and is also known as Sanno Engi, Hiyoshi-sha Jo-o-ki, and Sanno Yoten-ki.

鎌倉時代の天台神道経典の一つ。1巻。貞応2 (1223) 年作。滋賀県坂本の日吉大社の由緒を中心とした山王神道書。日吉山王に釈尊が垂迹して衆生を済度するとして，延暦寺の鎮守神である日吉社を最高の神とする。著者は明記されていないが，延暦寺の学僧の撰になるといわれている。山王七社の鎮座の由来や祭礼などと，山王神道に関する神道説を述べ，40項目と付録2条とから成る。書名は大宮の本社である大和三輪山の神代縁起によって山王の神徳を示したもので，別に『山王縁起』『日吉社貞応記』『山王耀天記』とも呼ばれる。
