1495‐1561 A scholar from the Ottoman period. Born in Bursa as a member of an ancient ulama family, he served as a professor at a madrasah and a qadi (judge). He produced many works. He is especially known for two Arabic works: Shakaykh al-Nūmaniyya, a collection of biographies of Ottoman scholars and mystics, and Mihtāh al-Sa'āda, an encyclopedia of the various learnings of the time.
