…Suden was invited to Sunpu in 1608 (Keicho 13) and ordered by Tokugawa Ieyasu to travel abroad and back. This red seal book records the issuance of red seal letters from 1604 to 1616 (Genwa 2), as well as red seal ship owners, destinations, and brokers. The first half is called the "Foreign Stamp Book" and the second half is called the "Foreign Voyages Stamp Book." It is an extremely valuable historical document on red seal ship trade, and it reveals 80 red seal ship owners and a total of 178 voyages. …
