…During the reign of Qapghan, the younger brother of Qapghan, they defeated the Khitan in the east, the Kyrgyz in the north, the Basmir of Bishbalik in the west, and the Turgish in the Irtysh River area. Qapghan's son Bilge Khagan, who restored the direct line, and together with his brother Köl Tegin (685-731), and with the advice of his father's nomadic retainer Tonyuquq (Ashide Yuanzhen), they achieved the restoration of the nomadic horse-riding state. Their achievements are recorded in Turkic inscriptions.

He also placed a high value on his wife's father, Tonyuquq, who was a senior vassal of the Irtylish Khanate.
