Yatomi [town] - Yatomi
A former town in Ama County, located in the Waju region on the left bank of the downstream Kiso River in western Aichi Prefecture. The town produces rice, vegetables, and flowers, and also raises livestock. In recent years, the town has been developed into residential areas. Goldfish farming is also popular, especially in the Maegasu area. The town is served by the Kansai Main Line, Kintetsu Nagoya Line, Meitetsu Bisai Line, and the Tomei-Osaka Expressway. In April 2006, it merged with Jyushiyama Village in Ama County to become a city, Yatomi City. Area: 38.82 km2 . Population: 36,491 (2003).

愛知県西部,木曾川下流左岸の輪中(わじゅう)地域に属する海部(あま)郡の旧町。米,野菜,花卉(かき)を産し,畜産も行う。近年,宅地化が進む。前ヶ須地区を中心に金魚の養殖も盛ん。関西本線,近鉄名古屋線,名鉄尾西(びさい)線,東名阪自動車道が通じる。2006年4月,海部郡十四山村と合併し市制,弥富市となる。38.82km2。3万6491人(2003)。
