Literary criticism by Masamune Hakucho. This is a compilation of his essays on writers serialized in the magazine Chuokoron, which were published from 1926 to coincide with the publication of Kaizosha's Complete Works of Modern Japanese Literature. It was published in 1932. An expanded and revised version, Sakka-ron (Theory of Writers) (two volumes), was published from 1941 to 1942. 正宗白鳥の文芸評論。昭和元年（1926）から改造社の「現代日本文学全集」の刊行にあわせて、同全集に収録された作家について、雑誌「中央公論」に連載した作家論をまとめたもの。昭和7年（1932）刊。増補・改訂版として、昭和16年（1941）から昭和17年（1942）刊行の「作家論」（全2巻）がある。
