Bank of America is the holding company for Bank of America National Trust and Savings Association, one of the world's leading commercial banks, and was established in 1969. Its headquarters are in San Francisco. Its origins date back to Bank of Italy (which was reorganized as Bank of Italy National Trust and Savings Association in 1927), which was established in 1904 in North Beach, San Francisco, by Amadeo Peter Giannini (1870-1949), the son of an Italian immigrant, with capital of $150,000.
