The measurement system of English-speaking countries is composed of the yard, pound, and second as base units. It was originally the British system of weights and measures, and its origins are ancient and multi-dimensional, with many dating back to the time of the Roman conquest. It began to be developed in the 1580s under Elizabeth I, and came to be used around the world as Britain developed internationally. In 1824, the Weights and Measures Act was enacted in Britain, and a unit system similar to the modern Weights and Measures Act was created in the country. However, at that time the size of the base unit of capacity was completely changed, which led to differences with other countries that used units based on the old standard equipment, and each country began to use its own unit system.
