1888‐1963 Spanish author. After the outbreak of the civil war in 1936, he traveled to Buenos Aires, where he died. He had been promising as a literary talent since he was young, and he fully demonstrated his talent in many areas, publishing nearly 100 novels, essays, biographies, and other works throughout his life, but his greatest achievement was the creation of a unique form of expression called "greguería," a short sentence. His keen observation of nature, as seen in such lines as "The crickets that measure the pulse of the night," are reminiscent of those of Japanese haiku poets, but according to his own definition, it is the product of "a synthesis of humor and metaphor." 1888‐1963 スペインの作家。
