〘名〙① 獣を捕えるための、網でつくったわな。※幼学読本(1887)〈西邨貞〉五「獅子は〈略〉猟師が設け置きたるおとし網に懸りけり」② 建網(たてあみ)の一種。垣網をたてて誘導した魚を魚捕網(ふくろ網)に入れる途中に、漏斗状の乗上がり網を付け、魚捕網を広く深くし、乗上がり網を通って一度魚捕網にはいった魚は、返しがあって再び逃げ出せないようにしてある。小型のものが江戸末期から使用されていたが、大正期に至って、この漁法が在来の定置網に導入され、その大型化とともに、画期的な能率魚網となった。ふくべ網。地獄網。
