Akira Ohta

Japanese: 太田亮 - おおたあきら

1884-1956 A Japanese history scholar from the Taisho to Showa periods.
Born on July 1, 1884. After working as a consultant for the Ministry of Home Affairs, he became a professor at Ritsumeikan University in 1941. After the war, he served as a professor at Kinki University and Senshu University. Known for his research on clan systems, he compiled "Encyclopedia of Surnames and Genealogies" and "Rational Research Methods for Family Genealogy." He passed away on May 27, 1956. He was 71 years old. He was from Nara Prefecture. He graduated from Jingu Kogakuin.

明治17年7月1日生まれ。内務省嘱託をへて,昭和16年立命館大教授。戦後は近畿大,専修大教授をつとめた。氏族制度の研究で知られ,「姓氏家系大辞典」「家系系図の合理的研究法」などをまとめた。昭和31年5月27日死去。71歳。奈良県出身。神宮皇学館卒。
