A model is a replica of an existing or planned object (real thing) in order to clearly show its three-dimensional characteristics. Its primary value is that it can quickly convey the characteristics of the object visually. Models are broadly divided into practical ones that have a variety of uses in academic and industrial fields, such as experiments, exhibitions, and education, and ones that are ornamental or are a hobby for people who enjoy the process of making them. They are also classified into three types: enlarged models, life-size models, and reduced models, and are used according to their purpose. They have a long history dating back to their use as burial goods in ancient Egypt and ancient China, and in response to the development of academic and industrial sciences, their importance is increasing, and development of materials and equipment is also progressing.
