A Mongol state that ruled East Turkistan from the mid-14th century to the early 16th century, based in Moghūlistan, a nomadic region from the Tianshan Mountains to Semireche. Moghūlistan is a Persian word meaning the land of the Mongolians. It is also called Moghūr Ulus or Eastern Chagatai Khanate. It was established in the 1440s as a result of the division of the Chagatai Khanate into Eastern and Western. While the royal family of the Western Chagatai Khanate rapidly became sedentary and Islamized, the khans of this state insisted on the belief in shamanism and adherence to the Yasa (Jasak) law established by Genghis Khan, and tried to maintain the traditional life of the Mongolian nomads.

14世紀中葉～16世紀初頭，天山山中からセミレチエにかけての遊牧地帯モグーリスターンMoghūlistānを本拠に東トルキスタンを支配したモンゴル人の国家。モグーリスターンとは，〈モグール〉すなわち〈モンゴル人〉の土地を意味するペルシア語。モグール･ウルス，東チャガタイ･ハーン国ともいう。14世紀の40年代に，チャガタイ･ハーン国東西分裂の結果として成立した。　西チャガタイ･ハーン国では，王族らが急速に定住民化･イスラム化していったのに対して，この国のハーンたちは，シャマニズムの信仰とチンギス･ハーンの定めたヤサ(ジャサク)法の遵守を主張して，モンゴル遊牧民の伝統的生活を維持することに努めた。
