Emasculation - emasculation

Japanese: 除雄 - じょゆう
Emasculation - emasculation

The artificial removal or inactivation of stamens by removing the function of the male organs in flowers, thus eliminating the opportunity for pollination or their function. After this treatment, the desired type of pollen can be applied to produce the desired hybrid. In addition to manually removing the stamens from the buds and cutting off the male inflorescence, or disabling the pollen with hot water or chemicals, in the case of chrysanthemums, which have a capitulum consisting of many flowers, the pollen is removed en masse by washing with water.
