…In the basins of three great rivers, the Tedori River in Kaga, the Kuzuryu River in Echizen, and the Nagara River in Mino, which all have their source in Mt. Hakusan, a belief in the seat of the White Gods as an agricultural deity was born. By the 9th century at the latest, Kaga Bamba, Echizen Bamba, and Mino Bamba had been formed as the centers of worship of Mt. Hakusan in each of the great river basins (Hakusan no Ki).
